About
Every patient leaves with exactly the face they asked for and nobody left who would know it was theirs. The cast stays warm on a rack in a mirrored basement, and the people who loved you can look at you and be polite to you. It is not theft. There is tissue in the discard and the harvest is something else, and the founder will explain it to you sensibly for as long as you want to listen. Imani arrives on the Friday sailing at 15:40 and is on the island for four nights. In that time she operates twice, reads her own consent form dated 14 March 2023 in a signature she does not remember writing, discovers that the surgeon who performed it has been scrubbed from the operative record and is now clearing trays in the spa, and finds out that the only person on the island who has not had an elective — the theatre nurse, Hanne Dodd, 41, the only one who blinks — has been lying to her wife in Utre
