All characters are adults and no minor appears in any role: Imani Cole is 38, Felix Aurelian is 55, Hanne Dodd is 41, Jordan Pierce is 33, Veda Rao is 47, Mateo Silva is 26, Pilar Kane is 36, Hana Kukk is 58 and Yusuf Kaya is 34. This is a body-horror story. It contains facial reconstruction, a compliant anaesthetic, a self-cast taken in a sealed booth without a mirror, a bilateral orbital procedure, the professional erasure of a surgeon's name, coercive employment, a patient made into an elective against his will, and a patient left alive and permanently unrecognised on an island with no hospital. Sexual content is explicit and written on the page between two consenting adults: the invitation is spoken aloud, the answer is spoken aloud and is yes, the boundaries are named before anything begins, the woman who opened the scene says the word to stop it and the man stops immediately and without argument, and both of them ask the other a question out loud before they continue. The intimacy is never a reward for a choice, never a route key, and never evidence, access, leverage or authority; it takes from both of them something the clean version of the night would have left intact, and one of them discovers in the same hour that the thing the elective harvests has already gone from him. Violence is graphic where the body earns it and is never instructional. No slurs are written out. All people, places, institutions and events are fictional.
