Celia Gender: Female Relationship: Niece of Duke Senior, cousin of Rosalind
Celia is a young woman who lives in the court of Duke Frederick. She is the daughter of the Duke and the niece of the banished Duke Senior. Celia and Rosalind are cousins, but they are closer than sisters. They are both kind, intelligent, and strong-willed. When Rosalind is banished from the court, Celia goes with her into the Forest of Arden. There, they meet a group of exiled lords and ladies, including Orlando, who falls in love with Rosalind. Celia helps Rosalind to disguise herself as a man named Ganymede, and she encourages Orlando to pursue his love.
