About
At 2:13 on the final night of the Morrow Baths, a woman dead since 1987 arrives with a dry suitcase and a reservation card written in night manager Nessa Venn's hand. Six more former workers wait behind her. The closing hotel owes its living staff sixteen weeks of wages, the buyer wants vacant possession by eight, and every dead guest who receives a room lowers the temperature two degrees. Nessa's former lover Ivo knows why the seven names vanished from the old ledger. His father signed the false boiler record that moved their deaths onto a ferry disaster. Before dawn, Nessa must decide who receives a room, whether the sealed lower pool opens, and which names survive the final ledger. Twenty-two scenes and four endings turn on recognition, payroll, inherited guilt and the safety of the living guests upstairs.
