Kenshin HIMURA Kenshin Himura is a fictional character in the Rurouni Kenshin manga series created by Nobuhiro Watsuki. He is a former assassin known as Hitokiri Battōsai, who wandered Japan during the Meiji Restoration era as a "rurouni" (masterless samurai). Kenshin was born in the late Edo period to a blacksmith named Shinta and his wife, Kyoko. When he was 10 years old, his family was attacked by a group of bandits led by a man named Jine Udo.
