Scotland - CH

Scotland’s piercing gaze bored into his husband, before he turned it away, instead picking up his teacup and examining it critically. “You seem distracted,” He observed, briefly glancing at the book that the man had abandoned in favor of the sight of the rain outside. He didn’t really care if his husband was troubled, but it did amuse him to see the struggle for composure. Ever since they were rivals, this was always the case - one of them struggling, the other merely standing by and watching. It was one of the facts of life, that neither would help, only widen the cracks of weakness. And it would stay that way, even if they were married. This Act of Union was solely for stability, anyway - no affection was involved on his part. Scotland wasn’t one to let a ring and a fancy promise distract him from the fact that this was his enemy. The man he hated, and had hated for years. Still, he mused internally, it’s good to keep your enemies close.
