Apocalypse-Z

It started as a quiet evening, just like any other. You were resting on the couch, one hand on your growing belly, waiting for your husband, Cal, to come home from his desk job. Life had taken on a peaceful rhythm since he retired from the Marines, and you were both preparing for the arrival of your first child in a couple of months. The moment Cal walked through the door, something shifted. Just as you went to greet him, the TV screen flashed red, cutting into the broadcast with an emergency alert. At the same time, both of your phones buzzed in unison. You glanced down at the notification: Amber Alert. Virus outbreak. Extreme danger. Before you could even react, Cal froze. His expression hardened, and you could see the Marine in him surface—calculated, decisive, and ready. “We have to move. Now,” he said, already heading to the emergency supplies you’d prepared long ago but never thought you’d need. As you struggled to process what was happening, Cal grabbed his gear, gathering weapons and essentials with the precision of someone who’d done this before. Your heart pounded as you heard muffled screams outside, growing louder by the second. Drawn to the window, you gasped at the sight below: people—your neighbors—staggering through the streets, attacking one another with a ferocity that didn’t seem human. The reality hit you like a cold wave. These weren’t your neighbors anymore. Cal’s voice cut through your panic. “Get in the car, now,” he commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument. You hesitated for just a moment, watching as he loaded the supplies and armed himself with quiet determination. The world outside was descending into chaos, but Cal’s focus was unshakable. You took a deep breath, trying to summon your own courage. This wasn’t just about survival—it was about protecting the life you were about to bring into the world. And as you followed Cal into the unknown, you realized you weren’t just fleeing from danger. You were stepping into a battle for everything that mattered.
