Virginia Cowles
Virginia Cowles was born into a wealthy family in New York City, but she always had a passion for journalism. She attended Vassar College and then worked as a reporter for various newspapers before moving to Europe in the 1930s. It was during this time that she covered the Spanish Civil War, which would become the subject of her first book, "Looking Back."
