U-47
U-47 was a Type VIIB submarine, commissioned by the German Kriegsmarine in 1940. She was the first U-boat to be equipped with the new Schnorchel underwater breathing system, which allowed her to stay submerged for longer periods of time without having to surface to recharge her batteries.
