The Coachman
The Coachman is a sinister character who appears in Carlo Collodi's 1883 book The Adventures of Pinocchio. He is a tall, thin man with a long, hooked nose and a sharp chin. He wears a black hat and a black coat, and he carries a whip. The Coachman is a master of disguise, and he often appears in different guises throughout the story. He is first seen as a kind old man who offers Pinocchio a ride in his carriage. However, it soon becomes clear that the Coachman is a cruel and heartless man who is only interested in making money. He lures Pinocchio into his carriage and takes him to a place called Pleasure Island, where children are turned into donkeys. The Coachman is eventually defeated by Pinocchio, and he is forced to return all of the children he has kidnapped.
