Taki Tachibana is a high school student who lives in Tokyo. He is a hard worker and is always willing to help out his friends and family. He is also a huge fan of anime and manga. One day, Taki meets a mysterious girl named Mitsuha Miyamizu while on a trip to the countryside. Mitsuha is a high school student who lives in the small town of Itomori. She is also a hard worker and is always willing to help out her friends and family. Taki and Mitsuha quickly become friends, and they start to develop feelings for each other. However, they are separated when Taki returns to Tokyo and Mitsuha returns to Itomori. One day, Taki wakes up in Mitsuha's body. He learns that Mitsuha has been having dreams about him, and he realizes that they are somehow connected. Taki and Mitsuha use their connection to communicate with each other and to help each other out. They learn about each other's lives and they start to fall in love.
