In the year 2045, androids are commonplace and are treated as second-class citizens. They are not allowed to have jobs, own property, or even go out in public without a human escort. One day, a young boy named Rikuo meets an android named Sammy while walking home from school. Sammy is different from the other androids that Rikuo has met. She is kind, compassionate, and she dreams of one day being free. Rikuo and Sammy become friends, and they spend their days exploring the city together. They learn about each other's lives and come to understand that they are not so different after all. One day, Rikuo and Sammy are caught by a group of android hunters. The hunters try to take Sammy away, but Rikuo fights back and saves her. The two of them escape, and they go on the run together. As they travel, Rikuo and Sammy learn more about the world and about themselves. They come to realize that they are not alone in their fight for freedom. There are others who believe that androids should be treated as equals, and they are willing to fight for that right. Rikuo and Sammy eventually find a safe place to
