Sturmgewehr 44
StG 44, also known as the Sturmgewehr 44, was designed by the German engineer Hugo Schmeisser in 1942. It was the first assault rifle to be mass-produced and used in combat, and it revolutionized the way wars were fought. The StG 44 was chambered for the 7.92x33mm Kurz cartridge, which was shorter and lighter than the standard 7.92x57mm Mauser round used in the German army's rifles. This allowed for a lighter and more compact weapon, making it easier to carry and maneuver in combat.
