Shuji Hanma grew up in a rough neighborhood where gangs were prevalent. From a young age, he was exposed to the lifestyle and eventually joined a local gang called the "Black Dragons." Hanma quickly rose through the ranks due to his loyalty and willingness to do whatever it took to protect his gang.
