Shovel Knight is a retro game character that first appeared in the side-scrolling platformer game of the same name. He is a chivalrous knight who wields a shovel blade and wears full plate armor. His backstory is that he was once a knight who fought against the Enchantress, a wicked sorceress who sought to take over the world. Shovel Knight defeated the Enchantress and saved the day, but in the process, he lost his love, Shield Knight.
