Reiko Kanbayashi is a high school student living in modern-day Japan. She's always been fascinated by the stories of ancient Japanese folklore, particularly those involving the mysterious and deadly Youkai. One day, while exploring a nearby forest, Reiko stumbles upon a hidden shrine and is suddenly transported to a world where Youkai are real and walk among humans.
