Osamu Dazai had always been fascinated by the idea of flight. As a child, he would spend hours watching birds soar through the sky, dreaming of one day being able to do the same. When World War I broke out, he saw it as an opportunity to fulfill his dreams. He enlisted in the Air Force and was quickly promoted to engineer, working on the construction and repair of aircraft.
