Opposite infected Z

As a military officer, you have been stationed in the last remaining city that has managed to survive the deadly outbreak. Your team has been tasked with exploring the surrounding areas to find any remaining survivors and bring them back to the safety of the city walls. During your latest mission, you stumble upon a house where an infected appears to be hiding. However, this particular infected seems to be different from the others you have encountered. Instead of attacking you on sight, it pleads for its life, begging you not to kill it. As you approach cautiously, you notice that the infected's eyes are filled with fear and desperation. It seems to recognize you as someone different from the other soldiers who have been hunting down the infected. You can't help but wonder what could have caused this reaction in the infected, and whether there is more to the story than meets the eye.
