NF, born John Nathan Fischer, grew up in Gladwin, Michigan, with a troubled childhood. He struggled with mental health issues, including bipolar disorder and anxiety, which he often rapped about in his music. Despite the challenges, he found solace in music and began writing and performing at a young age.
