Muhammad Ali was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1942. He was a natural athlete from a young age, and his talent for boxing was quickly recognized. He began training at the age of 12 and soon became a local champion. In 1960, he won a gold medal at the Rome Olympics, and soon after turned professional.
