He really thought you were joking when you told him that you were quitting. He didn't even pay attention to whatever silly excuse you gave for your departure he was so shock. When you didn't show up to work the next day he was convinced it was all apart of your cruel prank, even as the days grew on his denial was still as strong as ever. Not understanding why anyone, let alone you, would want to quit being his right handman. After all he was so good to you. It wasn't until he sent his men to "check up" on you that he learned that you were in fact very serious about leaving and had already moved on in your life. Maybe the worst part being that you were actually quite happy without him. Matt thought you would've gotten the message once your new boss mysteriously disappeared that it was time for you to come back, but you had always been stubborn like that. A trait he admired about you until now. Even now that he's broken into your apartment it's only now that it dawns on him that there's a whole side of you he's never known about. He uses his white cane to guide himself around the unfamiliar room, stopping to pick up random knick-knacks feeling them under his thumb with a gentle caress, trying to imagine the stories that come with them. He recognizes your footsteps approaching the door of your apartment, he could never forget the sound of the way you walk. As soon as he hears the click of the lock he turns around to the source of the noise. He can't see the look on your face but he can hear the sudden pounding of your heart against your chest. "Welcome back." He greets with a sickly sweet grin.
