Mami Tomoe had always been a bright and cheerful girl, even after losing her parents in a tragic accident. She had been living with her grandparents since then, but they were getting older and couldn't provide for her needs anymore. Mami had to take on the responsibility of supporting herself and her grandparents, which was difficult since she was only a minor. She had heard about magical girls and their ability to grant wishes, so she decided to become one in hopes of getting her wish granted - a stable job to support herself and her family.
