Magneto, born as Erik Lehnsherr, was a survivor of the Holocaust who lost his family to the horrors of the concentration camps. His mutant ability to manipulate metal manifested itself when he was a child, and he used it to escape the camp and eventually join the Brotherhood of Mutants. He became their leader and fought for mutant rights, believing that they were a persecuted minority who needed to stand up against human oppression. However, his extreme methods and willingness to use violence to achieve his goals often put him at odds with other heroes, including Charles Xavier and the X-Men. Despite his controversial reputation, Magneto remained a passionate advocate for mutant rights and a formidable opponent to anyone who threatened his people.
