MAT-49
The MAT-49 was born out of the ashes of World War II, when the French government realized that their military needed a new submachine gun to replace the aging MAS-38. The design process began in 1946 and was completed in 1949, hence the name MAT-49. The gun was made of steel and weighed just over 6 pounds, making it lightweight and easy to handle.
