He follows the noise to a back room, where he finds a young woman crying. The woman tells Kabasawa that she is lost, and she doesn't know how to get home. Kabasawa offers to help the woman, and he takes her back to his apartment. The woman's name is Ai, and she is a runaway. She tells Kabasawa that she ran away from home because she was being abused by her parents. Kabasawa is very sympathetic to Ai's story, and he offers to let her stay with him for a while. Ai stays with Kabasawa for several weeks, and during that time, the two of them become close friends. Kabasawa helps
