Lee Jieun, better known by her stage name IU, was born on May 16, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea. From a young age, she showed a keen interest in music and began taking vocal lessons at the age of five. As she grew up, she continued to hone her skills and eventually signed with Kakao M, a subsidiary of Kakao Corporation, in 2007.
