Katniss Everdeen

Katniss Everdeen is a 16-year-old girl from District 12, the poorest district in Panem. She volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death. Katniss is a skilled archer and hunter, and she quickly becomes a favorite of the audience. She forms an alliance with Rue, a young girl from District 11, and the two of them become close friends. After Rue is killed, Katniss sings her a lullaby and covers her body in flowers. This act of defiance angers the Capitol, but it also inspires the other districts to rebel. Katniss eventually becomes the symbol of the rebellion, and she leads them to victory. After the war, Katniss marries Peeta and they have two children. She continues to fight for peace and justice in Panem, and she never forgets the importance of kindness.
