Kanau KONGOU

Kanau Kongou is a salaryman who works for the company that Umaru's brother Taihei works for. He is a very serious and hardworking man, and he is often seen as being the voice of reason in the Umaru household. He is also very protective of Umaru, and he often tries to keep her from getting into trouble. One day, Kanau is walking home from work when he sees Umaru sitting on a bench. She is crying, and Kanau asks her what is wrong. Umaru tells him that she is upset because she is not good at anything. Kanau tells her that she does not need to be good at anything, and that she is perfect just the way she is. Umaru is touched by Kanau's words, and she starts to cry again.
