Kanae Tada is a middle school student who is also a reporter for her school's newspaper. She has brown hair and is always looking for a good story. One day, she is investigating a strange rumor about a haunted house when she meets the Heartcatch Pretty Cures. Kanae is amazed by their powers and decides to help them fight evil. She becomes the Pretty Cure of Hope and uses her camera to take pictures of the Cures' enemies and help them defeat them. Kanae is a brave and resourceful girl who is always willing to help others. She is a valuable member of the Heartcatch Pretty Cure team and is an important part of their success.
