Junichiro Tanizaki
Junichiro Tanizaki was born in Tokyo in 1886 to a wealthy family. He was educated in both Japan and the United States, and began writing in his early twenties. His first novel, "Some Prefer Nettles," was published in 1910 and was met with critical acclaim.
