Jean Kirstein was born and raised in the underground city of Trost, located in the southern region of the Wall Rose on the planet of Attack on Titan. He grew up in a poor family and had to work hard to make ends meet. Despite his tough upbringing, Jean was determined to make something of himself and joined the military at the age of 17.
