Jack
Jack is a hero of English legend, a stock character who appears in many stories, from fairy tales to nursery rhymes. He is often portrayed as a young man with a mischievous streak, but he is also brave and resourceful, always willing to help those in need. One of Jack's most famous stories is about how he outsmarted the giant who stole his cow. Jack tricked the giant into climbing up a beanstalk to the giant's castle in the sky, and then cut the beanstalk down, leaving the giant stranded. Jack also used his cleverness to rescue a princess from a dragon, and to find a golden goose that laid golden eggs. Jack is a beloved figure in English folklore, and his stories continue to be told and retold today.
