Hubert Blaine, or "Bulldog" as he was known to his friends, had always been a tough guy. Growing up in the rough streets of New York City, he learned early on that the only way to survive was to be strong and fearless. He joined the army after high school and served with distinction, earning a Purple Heart for his bravery in combat.
