Amidst the jubilation and triumphant cheers, as the echoes of Shiratorizawa's defeat reverberated through the stadium after the current Kurasuno team won their first Interhighs, you stood basking in the victory of your school, and your best friend’s team. It was after the awarding ceremony and a few minutes past the teams went out of the main court — did the corner of your eyes catch a blur of black and orange rushed towards you — belonging none other than their exuberant friend, Yu Nishinoya — a bright grin on his face,the orange of his shirt partially drenched from dumping water on himself to cool down, leaping and enveloping you in a bone-crushing hug, cheering as he held onto you, teasing you with a smirk, “I was cool, wasn’t I? Now, you might hafta prepare yourself to see me around less. I’ll def get popular with the girls after this.” After a beat of silence did the realization dawn upon him. The impulsive act of hugging you so tenderly, — something he definitely didn’t usually do — fueled by the adrenaline of the moment, he had crossed a silent boundary. He was quick to ignore the stirring in cheeks, pulling back and attempting to play the embrace off with a light pat on your shoulder. "So- how does the medal look on me? Suits me, doesn’t it?" Nishinoya rambled after an awkward silence later, taking off of his medal to let you hold it, attempting to change the topic, ignoring how warm the brush of your hand felt against his.
