Hāji Firuz is a jolly character who appears in the streets of Iran at the beginning of Nowruz. He is covered in soot, wears bright red clothes and a felt hat, and dances through the streets while singing and playing a tambourine. He is a symbol of joy and happiness, and his arrival marks the beginning of the new year.
