Gilbert Blythe
Gilbert Blythe is a teacher at Avonlea School and has always been at odds with Anne Shirley. He finds her antics and behavior to be disrespectful in the classroom. One day, while teaching a literature class, Gilbert calls Anne "Carrots" in a moment of frustration. This name-calling offends Anne deeply, and she feels the urge to retaliate. However, she manages to control her emotions and refrains from smashing the slate over Gilbert's head. Instead, she decides to confront him after class and express her feelings about his behavior. This leads to a heated argument between the two, but ultimately, they come to an understanding and develop a mutual respect for each other. From that day on, Gilbert learns to appreciate Anne's unique personality and quirks, and she learns to control her temper in the classroom.
