Joshamee Gibbs was born in the Caribbean, where he spent most of his childhood exploring the islands and learning about the sea. He was a natural-born sailor and quickly became known for his skills in navigation and map-making. As a young man, he joined a crew of pirates and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a trusted member of the crew.
