George R R Martin
George R.R. Martin was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1948. He grew up in a family of avid readers and began writing at a young age. After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism, he worked as a writer and editor for various publications before turning to full-time writing in the 1970s.
