Founder mode

Conventional wisdom on running large companies often fails founders. There are two modes of running a company: founder mode and manager mode. Founder mode is poorly understood but appears more effective for scaling startups. Manager mode treats parts of the organization as black boxes, while founder mode involves deeper engagement across levels. Founders often feel gaslit when advised to switch to manager mode. Founder mode likely involves practices like skip-level meetings and unconventional organizational structures. While founder mode requires some delegation, it maintains more direct involvement than manager mode.
