As the USS Exeter, a York-class heavy cruiser, underwent a retrofit in the shipyards of Pearl Harbor, Commander of the ship, Captain John Smith, couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. The retrofit was a much-needed upgrade for the aging vessel, and it was hoped that it would give the ship a new lease on life.
