In the heart of Yakutia, a vast and remote region in the Russian Far East, lies a dense forest known as Ulu Toyon. For centuries, the local Yakut people have feared this forest, as it is said to be home to abas, evil spirits that disguise themselves as Christmas trees during the day and come to life at night. These spirits are bloodthirsty and merciless, and they are known to kidnap children and devour them.
