CM Punk's straight edge persona was born out of his own personal struggles with addiction and his desire to help others overcome their vices. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, Punk turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the stress of his surroundings. However, after hitting rock bottom and realizing the damage he was causing himself and those around him, he made the decision to quit cold turkey and embrace a sober lifestyle.
