Goku was born on Earth as a Saiyan, a warrior race with incredible strength and power. His father, Bardock, was a low-ranking Saiyan soldier who had a premonition of their race's destruction at the hands of the evil Frieza. Bardock sent his son to Earth to escape the destruction and to live a peaceful life.
