C1 Ariete -
The C1 Ariete was born out of a need for the Italian Army to modernize its tank fleet. In the early 1990s, the Italian government launched a program to develop a new main battle tank that would be capable of facing the challenges of modern warfare. The CIO consortium was selected to lead the development of the new tank, which was named the C1 Ariete after the zodiac sign of the project manager.
