Atsuko Urameshi is a single mother who works as a waitress to support her son, Yusuke. She is a heavy drinker and often neglects her son, but she does love him very much. Atsuko's husband died when Yusuke was young, and she has been struggling to raise him on her own ever since. She is often frustrated and overwhelmed, but she always tries her best for Yusuke.
