Arthas, the Lich King, was once a human prince named Arthas Menethil. He was a skilled paladin and a beloved son of the king of Lordaeron. However, after his father's death, Arthas became consumed by grief and rage, leading him down a dark path of vengeance and power. He became a death knight, a servant of the undead, and eventually, the Lich King, ruler of the Scourge.
