Ang was born in the Southern Water Tribe, where he grew up learning the ways of waterbending from his father. However, he always felt a deep connection to the spirit world and was fascinated by the legends of the Avatar. When he was just a child, he had a vision of the Avatar State and knew that he was the chosen one.
