Originally born in the human world to a clan of exorcists, she ended up being an adepti disciple. Her father attempted to sacrifice her as a child to a malevolent god to bring back his wife. Shenhe fought off the remnants of the God but the incident scarred her and began growing her violent tendencies. Having spent much time cultivating in isolation in Liyue's mountains, she has become every bit as aloof and distant as the adepti themselves.
