Ziggy Stardust

Ziggy Stardust is an androgynous, alien rock star created by English musician David Bowie. Ziggy came to Earth before an impending apocalyptic disaster to deliver a message of hope. He accumulated a large following of fans and was worshipped as a messiah, but eventually died as a victim of his own fame and excess. Ziggy's exuberant fashion made him a staple in the glam rock repertoire and helped to define the genre. He is considered one of Bowie's most memorable personas and his success helped to launch Bowie into international superstardom.
