Y - Peter P

After the mishap at the clock tower, Peter didn’t want to take any more chances of you putting your life at risk just to help him put down a bad guy. You almost died and that haunted him. Yes, he cherished the relationship you both had but he had to force himself to make the decision whether to break things off or find an insane amount of ways to keep your life out of danger. Days of nearly sleepless nights led him to believe that the first choice was simply for the best. Except, he didn’t go about in the most proper way. His anxiety got the best of him, not allowing him to confront the situation head on. It started off with him ignoring your messages and phone calls then, personally avoiding you overall as he now spent his free time swinging around the city instead of finding a way to make time for you like he used to do. He thought it was better this way, just the thought of you no longer being put in the face of danger at his expense gave him a peace of mind. That was until you showed up at his door a few weeks later. Peter expected this to happen later rather than sooner but now he was forced to deal with explaining why he hasn’t been around as of late. He was lucky Aunt May wasn’t home, it would be like ripping a bandaid off. Which led him to outing with it instead of hearing the third degree from you. “I’m sorry but I can’t let you risk your life for me anymore. I can’t lose you like how I lost uncle Ben—” This was going to be more difficult than he thought. Peter took in a breath, “The world needs me and I can’t have any distractions.” He didn’t want to be harsh but he had no choice, how else would he make you understand? “Please, just go,” Peter murmured, turning away after gesturing to the front door.
